About Wireless Adjuster I

The Wireless Adjuster course (Level I) is a perfect fit for armies of field technicians who need to quickly and inexpensively assess, troubleshoot, and remediate WLAN problems in a variety of venues. This course covers performance, security, and connectivity knowledge domains, and focuses on using low-cost WLAN scanner tools and accessories to the fullest extent of their feature sets. This course will greatly reduce truck rolls and will allow field technicians to more effectively work with support engineers.

Windows 10 and MacOS based WLAN scanning software, such as WinFi Lite, inSSIDer, and WiFi Explorer Pro will be used in this class. Hardware will include the WLANpi (a low-cost USB-based adapter that can be used for local and remote troubleshooting/assessment) and the MetaGeek DBx (a low-cost USB-based spectrum analyzer), both of which will work with each of the scanning tools listed above.

Students should be familiar with networking concepts such as the OSI model, MAC and IP addressing, and some experience getting computing devices connected to wired and wireless LANs. The recommended level of knowledge (prior to taking this course) can be obtained for free both here and here.

The Wireless Adjuster course also focuses on minority use cases for WLAN scanners, such as how they can act as a low-end Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) or WLAN performance monitoring system. This is true for a single location or a distributed enterprise, and WLAN scanners may also be used to do on-going best-practice and change-management monitoring across enterprises. You will learn all of these approaches in this course.
